Student Visas
The Student visa allows you to study various courses including:
Higher education, Vocational and Education Training (VET), Pathway courses, English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), Primary and secondary school, Secondary school exchange programs, Postgraduate research, Non-award courses (e.g., Study Abroad and Exchange semesters), Courses sponsored by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) or Defence.
Enroll in a course at an Australian education provider and obtain a confirmation of enrolment (CoE) before applying for the student visa.
Subclass 500
Study in Australia with the Student Visa! This visa lets you join an eligible course, travel in and out of Australia, and work up to 48 hours a fortnight. It’s temporary, lasting up to 5 years based on your course length. Primary school children typically get up to 3 years. You can include family members in your application, and they must meet health and character requirements.

Student Visa (Subclass 500) – New English Requirements from 23 March 2024.
English Proficiency: Minimum IELTS score increases from 5.5 to 6.0 (or equivalent).
Packaged ELICOS Course: Minimum IELTS score increases from 4.5 to 5.0 (or equivalent).
University Foundation/Pathway Programs: Require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent) for courses listed on the Department’s website.
Student Visa (Subclass 500): Allows you to stay in Australia to study full-time at a recognized education institution.
Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590): Allows you to stay in Australia as the guardian of an international student under 18 years old studying on a student visa.
Processing Times
90% of student visa applications are processed within one month of lodgement.

If your Student visa expires before graduation, you might be eligible for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) with a letter from your education provider.
Eligible for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) if you completed specific qualifications in Australia in the last six months.

⦁ Obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from your provider. You need this document to apply for your visa.
Book a Consultation or Engage with a Registered Migration Agent to meet all the requirements and complete the Form 157A.
Student Visa (Subclass 500)

⦁ Meet the Genuine Student Requirement: Genuine Student Requirement From 23 March 2024, the Genuine Student (GS) requirement replaces the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement for Student Visa (Subclass 500) applications.

Purpose: Applicants must prove they are genuinely intending to study in Australia and that their primary purpose is education. The GS requirement supports those who aim to gain skills needed in Australia and might apply for permanent residency later.

⦁ Previous Study: Academic records, certificates, details of previous study in Australia, and reasons for changing courses.
⦁ Current Employment: Employment details, position, and confirmation contact.
⦁ Home Country Circumstances: Personal ties, economic conditions, political unrest, and military service commitments.
⦁ Potential in Australia: Knowledge of the course and provider, previous studies, and living arrangements in Australia.
⦁ Future Value: Relevance of the course to future employment and potential salary benefits.
⦁ Immigration History: Visa and travel history, previous applications, and refusals.
Assessment: The GS criterion evaluates your intention to study genuinely in Australia by considering your circumstances, immigration history, and compliance with visa conditions.
Additional Information:
Dependents: You can include family members in your application. They must meet health and character requirements and be listed in your application.
Visa Extensions: If you need to extend your stay, you must apply for a new visa before your current visa expires.
Apply From
You can be in or outside Australia when applying. If in Australia, you must hold an eligible substantive visa.
Packaged Courses
Provide Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for each course.
Course gaps must be less than two calendar months unless spanning the end/start of an academic year.
