Parent Visa (Subclass 103) – OFFSHORE (Applying from Outside Australia)
The Subclass 103 parent visa allows parents to move to Australia if more of their children live in Australia than any other country
Parent Visa (Subclass 103) holders can:
• Live in Australia as a permanent resident
• Sponsor eligible relatives to come to Australia
• Get access to Medicare
• Apply for Australian citizenship (if eligible)
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be outside Australia when the decision on your application is made.
- You must have a sponsor who is either your child or another relative.
Sponsor Requirements
Your sponsor, usually your child, must:
- Be 18 years old or older.
- Be a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
Balance of Family Test
- At least half of your children must live permanently in Australia, or
- More of your children must live permanently in Australia than in any other country.
Health and Character Requirements
- You must meet health and character requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

Sponsorship
To apply for a parent category visa, you need a sponsor who must be:
- An Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.

- Special provisions exist for sponsors under 18 years old.
Duration of Stay
A parent category visa permits you to:
- Reside in Australia for up to 2 years as a temporary resident, or
- Live in Australia as a permanent resident
