When you become a standard business sponsor, you can
Sponsor someone to work for you on a:
- Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482)
- Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494)
How long the sponsorship lasts
- 5 years from the date we approve the sponsorship
If we approve your standard business sponsorship, we recommend you check if you are eligible for accredited status. It has significant benefits for you.
Have a legally established and currently operating business
To become a standard business sponsor, your business must be legally established and currently operating.
Your business can be in or outside Australia.
Have no adverse information regarding your business
We must not be aware of any adverse information about you or anyone associated with you that affects your suitability as a sponsor
If we do know something about you or someone associated with you, it must be reasonable for us to disregard it
Additional requirements for businesses in Australia
you should have a strong record of, or a demonstrated commitment to, employing local labour
you must declare that you will not engage in discriminatory recruitment practices

- Complete Standard Business Sponsorship (482, 494)
- Attach documents
- Pay the sponsorship application fee. We will not process your application until you pay the fee.
- Note the Transaction Reference Number (TRN).
Complete applications might be processed quicker. Incomplete ones might be delayed or refused if there is insufficient information to show you meet the requirements.
